Personal Bio-data: Dr.Raakhi Gupta
Born in a reputed Jain family from Jaipur, Rotarian
Dr. Raakhi Gupta, the daughter of an IPS officer, has been a Rotarian
since 1998. Dr Gupta joined Rotary as the Charter Secretary of Rotary Club
Jaipur Marugandha, an exclusive Club for women. With a Masters in
Chemistry, and a Gold Medal to boot, she is a Ph.D. and has been working as a
Professor and Registrar at the IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur, since its
inception in 1995.
In keeping with her ardent
desire to discharge her civic and social responsibilities dutifully, Dr Gupta
has been contributing her bit to welfare activities in her capacity as a
conscientious citizen cum active Rotarian, and also by involving the community
of do-coders to engage in a number of community service and outreach activities
through both her University and Rotary. She has held key positions at the Club
and District level such as President, Secretary as well as Literacy
Chairman, Assistant Governor, and District Secretary
General at the District level, all of which has further honed her
leadership skills and organizational capacity. Very recently, she has been
appointed as the Additional District Trainer (RID-3054) for 2022-23.
As a dedicated Rotarian, Dr
Gupta is a big advocate of local action and community service. And, for this,
she has won several awards from Rotary International including the
Presidential Citation for achieving Rotary goals during her tenure as
the Club President as well as for carrying out important District assignments
with elan. action. She also bagged the “Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual
Rotarians-2001” for outstanding efforts in the Four Avenues of Service, as
identified by Rotary. She was also a member of the GSE team which
went to Florida, District-6890, during 1997-98. At her University, she
encourages and pronouns art, culture and heritage-related activities with the
view to galvanising the youth for evincing similar interest and taking action.
Additionally, as one of the crusaders of the Polio
Eradication Programme in India, Dr Gupta worked very hard to promote,
propagate and motivate people all over the District. Right since 1997, she has
worked ceaselessly to reach the affected areas and ensure greater participation
in National Immunization drives. The Rotaract Club of her University - under
the National Service Scheme - contributed in a big way to administer the Polio
vaccine to children during the Rotary-organized Polio-eradication Drive. She
has also promoted The Rotary Foundation by ensuring greater contribution to the
Annual Programme Fund by herself being a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.
In addition, she strives to educate people as to why they should contribute to
the Foundation.
Dr Gupta thus
brings to life the very essence of what Rotary stands for: to aspire
towards the practice of integrity, responsibility and equality and to help
create an environment of continual learning and development; empathy and
service, by subscribing to the theory of leading by example. She is
married to Rotarian Pankaj Gupta, an Electrical Engineer and Energy Auditor.
They are blessed with two children, Son-Mehul, an Engineer and
Daughter, Raadhika, a Medical Intern.
